A-Prentice No More

The Mets recalled outfielder Prentice Redman from Norfolk over the weekend and he made his Major League debut in Sunday’s win over Los Angeles. Redman, who was summoned to the bigs earlier this year but did not play, becomes the 20th man to wear No. 20 in Met history. Jaime Cerda 43 was demoted to make room.

Deck Chairs Rearranged

The Mets swapped outfielders with Norfolk on Saturday, demoting Tsuyoshi Shinjo 5 and recalling Raul Gonzalez 21. On Sunday, they called back Jaime Cerda 43 and returned Jeremy Griffiths to Norfolk, yet another casualty of the dreaded No. 46.

Injury Update duJour

The Mets finally got around to disable-listing gimpy outfielder Timo Perez 6 and re-calling grumpy infielder Rey Sanchez 10. Meantime, David Cone 16 has re-joined the team, taking the place of lefty reliever Jaime Cerda 43, who was returned to Norfolk for the second time this year.

Strange Up, Phillips Down, Strickland hurt, Cerda back

The Mets on Saturday began packing for their upcoming visit to Denver by calling up pitcher Pat Strange 38 and demoting yo-yo/catcher Jason Phillips 23. Strange was up briefly this season but did not play. Here’s his chance. On Sunday, the Mets put reliever Scott Strickland on the disabled list with a groin thingy, and recalled AAA reliever Jaime Cerda 43.

Corey Burns Out

After suffering a bizarre late-night freak-out later diagnosed as an acute attack of The Munchies, reliever Mark Corey 27 will sort out his problems on the disabled list. In his place the Mets called up Jaime Cerda, who made an impressive Major League debut last night against the Yankees. Cerda was issued jersey No. 43.
