Today the Mets are pretending Carlos Beltran is an immortal; this is probably worse than naming him manager but they’ll probably do that too. Can you imagine where that leads? This team couldn’t bring itself to fire Mendoza after they stumbled 10 games under .500 before April was out.

Could there be a bigger argument against this ceremony than watching Pete Alonso humiliate the team this week? Better qualifications for number retirement if he retired after last year but they threw him away. I happened to have captured the moment on video, shared it, and accidentally got 7,000 likes (my vids usually get 3 from my relatives).
