The Mets Lie About Their History and it Sucks

How stupid is it that the Mets are retiring yet another number, and for a guy who played for six other teams than the Mets over 13 of his 20 years as a pro? I like Carlos Beltran as much as the next guy but that’s not the resume of an all-time Mets great, same as that of Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry and God forbid, Gary Carter. It’s a fraudulent chronicle of greatness. None of those guys have the resume of a Pete Alsonso, who we may as well debate at this rate.

When I’m appointed boss, I will do a really unpopular thing and revoke the retirements of these questionable all-time greats. I’m fine if you leave the number up there on the wall. It’s one place they can’t put an illuminated New York Presbyterian sign, and fans will know who they’re for, but Tyrone Taylor can still wear 15 if he wants. Ridiculous.
