Right, Hank.\u00a0<em>He crawled to you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the Mets have abruptly opted out of the\u00a0<strong>Yorvit Torrealba<\/strong>\u00a0sweepstakes. If you had any faith that the Mets knew what they were doing when they pursued Torrealba in the first place, this isn\u2019t good news. And if you were hoping they\u2019d bring\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/loduca-paul\"><strong>Paul LoDuca<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0back, probably even worse news, because LoDuca\u2019s price just went up. A lot.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re more in the first camp than the second, though it\u2019s probably proper here to give LoDuca our thanks and a proper send off. He was a Met fan born in Brooklyn (like<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/mazzilli-lee\">\u00a0<strong>Lee Mazzilli<\/strong><\/a>), and a boyhood fan of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/gooden-dwight\"><strong>Dwight Gooden<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and the 80s Mets. In other words, he was born to wear\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/number\/16\"><strong>No. 16.<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0And for half of his stay in that jersey, he did it proud. I\u2019ll remember LoDuca for his fiery temper and teenage girlfriends generally but two plays specifically that bookended his remarkable 2006 season: Dropping the ball at the play at the plate on opening day but faking his way to an out; and \u2014 catching the ball this time \u2014 tagging consecutive sliding Dodgers on the very same play.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks, Paul.
