{"id":535,"date":"2005-09-28T02:27:30","date_gmt":"2005-09-28T02:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beta.mbtn.net\/?p=535"},"modified":"2013-11-30T04:22:34","modified_gmt":"2013-11-30T04:22:34","slug":"last-season-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mbtn.net\/?p=535","title":{"rendered":"Late Season Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back from a vacation and better late than never &#8212;\u00a0<strong>Anderson Hernandez\u00a0<\/strong>recalled from Norfolk Sept. 17;\u00a0<strong>Danny Graves 32<\/strong>\u00a0recalled on Sept. 5; and\u00a0<strong>Mike Piazza 31<\/strong>\u00a0back from the DL on Sept. 10.\u00a0 MBTN was surprised to return from our vacation to see Hernandez dressed in\u00a0<strong>No. 1\u00a0<\/strong>&#8212; which we thought that number might have been in semi-retirement awaiting the\u00a0<strong>1986<\/strong>\u00a0anniversary next season and Mookie Wilson&#8217;s continuing service to the organization. As argued here before, MBTN is generally not in favor of retiring numbers &#8212; we&#8217;d prefer to see them strategically re-issued &#8212; but hard to say from his play or lack of it thus far whether Hernandez is truly Mookworthy yet.<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez, by the way, appears to be the 42nd and final player to wear a Met jersey this year &#8212; the fewest Met uni wearers since only 40 suited up in 1996.
