It isn’t like they needed one but the Mets got another reminder of their shortcomings in depth, defense and power this weekend, and it didn’t help that\u00a0Terry Collins\u00a0couldn’t manage past them and\u00a0Ike Davis\u00a0was poisoned. But whatever, they’ve got to move on and will do so now without\u00a0Vinny Rottino, who was farmed out last night for lefty relief help,\u00a0Justin Hampson. We could have used both guys last night but Terry instead opted for\u00a0Justin Turner, who had a very bad game and\u00a0Miguel Batista, who’s once again pitching like a 41-year-old should.<\/p>\n
No word yet on Hampson’s digits, we’ll let you know (or, likely, you will me). EDIT: Hampson (note the spelling) appeared tonight wearing\u00a0No. 45.<\/p>\n
In the inbetween we welcomed back\u00a0Ronny Cedeno,\u00a0Ruben Tejada\u00a0and\u00a0Ramon Ramirez\u00a0and bid goodbye (for now) to\u00a0Jordany Valdespin,\u00a0Elvin Ramirez\u00a0(farmed out) and\u00a0Frank Francisco\u00a0(strained mouth).\u00a0I liked both Valdespin and Ramirez and hope to see them back soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
