Dickey<\/strong>\u00a0takes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/perez-oliver\">Oliver Perez<\/a>&#8216;s scheduled start Wednesday, and on Friday,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/takahashi-hisanori\">Hisanori Takahashi\u00a0<\/a>starts against the Yankees, fresh off a humiliating defeat of the Red Sox tonight. Dickey is en route from Class AAA Buffalo and according to reliable sources already has uni number assigned to him:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/number\/43\">43<\/a>. That number most recently belonged to reliever\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/stokes-brian\">Brian Stokes<\/a>. I&#8217;m cautiously hopeful that Dickey can beguile his opponents and terrified that Takahashi could see weeks of goodwill in a low-pressure mopup role unravel with a bad start against the Yankees. It&#8217;s a shame Dickey won&#8217;t have No. 49, which has become something of a symbol for knucklers dating back to Hoyt Wilhelm. The Mets&#8217; last knuckleballer was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/player\/springer-dennis\">Dennis Springer<\/a>, No. 34 for a few ill-fated emergency appearances 10 years ago, as\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/how-about-knuckle-sandwich\">recalled here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another reminder that tonight (Tuesday, May 18) is<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/?ref=home#!\/event.php?eid=119879141378094&amp;ref=mf\">\u00a0Amazin&#8217; Tuesday<\/a>, at a new venue, Two Boots Grand Central.
