{"id":1187,"date":"2009-04-29T14:21:25","date_gmt":"2009-04-29T14:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beta.mbtn.net\/?p=1187"},"modified":"2013-12-07T14:27:15","modified_gmt":"2013-12-07T14:27:15","slug":"manuel-laboring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mbtn.net\/?p=1187","title":{"rendered":"Manuel Laboring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Being a positive guy who desperately wants to like the team he roots for I&#8217;m hoping there&#8217;s some hidden benefit at work amid the recent managerial misadventures of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/manuel-jerry\">Jerry Manuel<\/a>. But they cannot be worth the the price in bad baseball we&#8217;ve witnessed this week.<\/p>\n<p>For the second time in as many series against the Marlins, Jerry overmanuevered the Mets into losing two of three winnable games. He pulled his starters too early, inserted relievers unnecessarily and\/or curiously, and this afternoon, publically flipped off\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/castro-ramon\">Ramon Castro<\/a>\u00a0and called it a pinch-hitting decision.<\/p>\n<p>None of it worked, and the team, once again, seems to be taking on the passive and frightened style of its manager.<\/p>\n<p>I admire Jerry and came into the year convinced he possessed a good understanding of what troubled this team and how to fix it but it seems he&#8217;s determined to demonstrate that the hard way. I can&#8217;t imagine Castro sees much more time with the Mets, and wonder what it might take to get\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/takahashi-ken\">Ken Takahashi<\/a>\u00a0to show that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/number\/36\">No. 36<\/a>\u00a0he got the other day. Yeah,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mbtn.net\/player\/wright-david\">David Wright<\/a>\u00a0could make it all go away with a few well-timed hits but he&#8217;s struggled before too.
